Your Move: Youth
Here’s what YOU can do to build a thriving City.
1. Put the Youth Master Plan into action
New Orleans is halfway into a 10 year Youth Master Plan, that was developed by youth & city officials together! It sets the stage for all children and youth to achieve their full potential. The Youth Master Plan is a one-stop roadmap for all to see where our city’s youth are going and how they are going to get there.
Help make the Youth Master Plan a reality!
2. Get ready for college
Xavier University offers summer opportunities for academic enrichment, mentorship, career exploration, and lifelong friendships for African American, Black and other marginalized middle- and high-school students.
3. Start your career journey with Reconcile
A non-profit workforce training program, the Café prepares ambitious young adults for connections to education or employment.
4. Get a paid internship
Born of the need to reduce disparities and fill critical talent gaps in the local corporate workforce, the Career Immersion & Leadership Institute (CILI) helps first generation college students access employment opportunities and competitive wages. Learn more & support.
5. Hire UnCommon construction for your next home project
unCommon Construction uses the build process to empower youth with the skills, network, resources, and experience to lead the workforce after high school or college. Hire their apprentices for your next home project.
6. Mentor or volunteer to support fatherless boys
Son of a Saint goes beyond mentorship. They are a lifeline for fatherless boys–providing wraparound care that embraces the whole child, from academics and mental health to essential life-building skills.
