Your Move: Climate
Here’s a few things YOU can do to build a thriving City.
1. Push for better, safer, and more affordable energy
Our partners at the Alliance for Affordable Energy work to ensure affordable, equitable and environmentally responsible energy policy for the people of Louisiana. Sign up for their newsletter to stay informed!
2. Push for better drainage
Our drainage system needs an upgrade! The Water Justice Fund is New Orleans' answer to improved flood management so that we can all live and thrive with water. Today, only residents and tax-paying businesses contribute to drainage funding. Nonprofit property owners, like churches, universities, hospitals and the Superdome don’t. The water justice fund makes a common sense solution to the funding problem by creating a more fair fee structure. Learn more and support here!
3. Make your home energy smart
Did you know Entergy New Orleans offers free energy efficiency assessments to New Orleans residents? They will send out a certified specialist AND provide free energy efficient products like a smart thermostat, advanced power strips, weatherizing strips for your doorways, and more, to help you save money on your electric bill and lower your carbon footprint. 4. Protect native species
Native species are crucial because they form the foundation of healthy, resilient ecosystems, having evolved over thousands of years to adapt to local climates, soil conditions, and wildlife. They provide essential food and habitat for local pollinators, birds, and other animals. Protect native species in our wetlands with Common Ground Relief!
