Program Manager (Full Time)
Position type: Full-time, Exempt
Schedule: Flexible 40-hour per week, including occasional night and weekend work
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: New Orleans, LA (Hybrid)
Salary: $57,000-60,000 DOE
Anticipated Start Date: August 3, 2026

CBNO is a nonpartisan nonprofit working to build and empower New Orleans civic leaders. We’re a convener, connector, and capacity builder for New Orleans’ grassroots; our programs empower leaders with the knowledge, networks, and skills they need to drive progress for New Orleans. Our work will be done when residents of New Orleans have what they need to successfully build thriving communities, regardless of their race, age, status or ability. Our tactics include:
Education: We help people understand, navigate, and influence City decisions.
Advocacy: We advance local policies and practices that are transparent, accountable, and inclusive.
Connection: Our community engagement efforts build trust and forge stronger bonds within and across neighborhoods; and bridge the gaps between residents, businesses, and government.
Key Programs
Leadership Forum - Our flagship annual program, a 10-week training on local issues and community organizing and advocacy skills.
Changemaker Series - a monthly series of free civic education events for the general public; including topics such as the City Budget, working with City Council, community organizing basics, and more.
People’s Budget Project - Our program to help people understand and influence the City Budget process, gather left-out communities’ priorities for our tax dollars, and advocate for more public money to support community needs.
The Better New Orleans Block Party - Our signature annual Spring event, aimed to reinvent civic engagement. Includes dozens of partner organizations, food, music, vendors, and interactive activities centered around our mission.

Program Manager Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate program activities, ensuring smooth execution and timely completion. Develop and deliver program plans, managing scheduling, logistics, and volunteer coordination.
Evaluate program success and engage in program strategy discussions with the Executive Director and Board to ensure our programming remains on the leading edge of what community leaders in New Orleans need.
Prepare reports and presentations on program activities and outcomes for stakeholders, the Executive Director, and Board.
Recruit, train, and supervise program interns and volunteer committee members; providing guidance and mentorship, and ensuring program activities are executed effectively.
Maintain programmatic budgets, submitting receipts to track expenses and ensuring efficient use of resources.
Develop and implement communication and marketing strategies and materials to increase visibility, engagement, and support for programming.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with program participants and partners, ensuring a positive and impactful experience.
Represent the Committee for a Better New Orleans at community events, coalition meetings, and public meetings when requested.
Qualifications
Proven experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs: Minimum 3 years of experience in a non-profit, community development, or government setting, with a focus on program management, communications, or policy.
Excellent interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse audiences. Training on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Anti-Racism, and/or experience working across differences is a plus.
Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and messages.
A deep commitment to the mission and values of CBNO
Experience with the New Orleans policy landscape is a plus.
Experience supervising staff or volunteers is a plus.
Experience with Canva, graphic design, and/or creating communications materials for community engagement and outreach is a plus.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing administrative tasks at a computer.
Constantly communicates with staff, stakeholders, and the public; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Ability to travel to various community locations and navigate event spaces for evening and weekend programming.
Occasionally moves equipment or event materials weighing up to 40 pounds.

Second Round Interviews: One-hour in person meeting with a hiring panel
Third Round Interviews (if needed): one-hour in person meeting with the hiring panel. May include a brief exercise to demonstrate your work style.
