CBNO Executive Director Nellie Catzen was interviewed about the organization’s role in the bond sale proposals, and the community perspectives heard.

“Voters’ approval follows widespread public education campaigns about the bonds from both city leaders and nonpartisan civic advocacy groups, such as Committee for a Better New Orleans, which did not take a stance on any of the propositions.

Committee Executive Director Nellie Catzen said throughout their campaign, they often dispelled public concerns about rising taxes or the money being used for other means.

“I think the public doesn’t always understand that bond funding can't be squirreled away to other things. It has to be used on the topic that voters approved, and that's an exciting thing. It means that projects the city needs big money for will happen,” she said.”
