It’s your moment: Where to show up for the 2027 Budget Process

The City of New Orleans’ 2027 Budget season is heating up! The City’s money is your money, and you should have a say in how it’s spent. Here’s your chance to make your voice heard in the City’s most important decision.

Mayor’s Budget Community Meetings: Sept 8-17

What to Expect:

The Mayor will host seven community meetings across the City. While we haven’t heard yet what the format of those meetings will be, we’re expecting a presentation of the Mayor’s priorities for the budget, a discussion of the budget crisis, and an opportunity for public comment.

Where & When to Show Up:

For all meetings, doors will open at 5:30pm and the meeting will be from 6-7:30pm.

  • Tuesday, September 8th - District E (9th Ward): Andrew P. Sanchez Multi-Service Center, 1616 Fats Domino Ave

  • Wednesday, September 9th - District D: Beacon Light Baptist Church, 1937 Mirabeau Ave

Mayor’s Budget Presentation to City Council: Sept. 22

What to Expect:

The Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer will present the proposed budget to City Council; and the City’s Proposed 2027 Operating Budget will be released to the public online.

Where & When to Show Up:

Tuesday, September 22, 10am at City Council Chambers, First Floor of City Hall, 1300 Perdido St.

City Council Budget Hearings: Sept 28-Oct 28

What to Expect:

Each City Department will present their proposed budget to City Council. Councilmembers will ask questions, and the public is invited to attend and make public comments.

Where & When to Show Up:

All Council Budget Hearings take place in Council Chambers, First Floor of City Hall, 1300 Perdido St. Here’s the schedule:

City Council Votes to Adopt the Budget: Nov 9

What to Expect:

The City Council will vote to adopt a budget. Often, there is a list of changes available to the public in the Council Chambers, but the changes may not be incorporated into the budget book that the City lists online. The public will be allowed to make 2-minute public comments.

Thursday, November 19th, 2026 at 10am at City Council Chambers, First Floor City Hall, 1300 Perdido St.
