The Metropolitan Area Committee (MAC) was founded in 1966, and CBNO has been proud to continue the MAC legacy — including the Bryan Bell Metropolitan Leadership Forum — since the two organizations merged in 2001. Join us for a festive evening of food and music as we celebrate the many accomplishments of the organization, and the many people who made them possible. Keynote speaker will be CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller; music will be by Robin Barnes, and Sheba Turk from WWL-TV will be the MC. We will also be conferring the 7th annual Diana Lewis Citizen Participation Awards on this year’s deserving recipients. Tickets, tables and sponsorships may all be purchased via Eventbrite. The patron party begins at 6:30 PM, with the dinner and gala kicking off at 7:30.

CBNO has developed two new websites that will give New Orleans residents more information about the city budget, and the opportunity to create their own version of the budget. The formal launch of these will begin six months of work to get as many residents as possible to build their own budgets; the resulting data will be compiled and presented to the city as The People’s Budget.

On Sunday, July 20, the Dirty Coast store will donate 20% of its profits from in-store and on-line sales to CBNO. Dirty Coast really does have the most creative t-shirts around, plus some other cool stuff, mostly with a New Orleans flavor to them. From the famous “Y@” shirts to the gustatory intellectualism of the pi symbol made out of crawfish, their creativity is boundless. Their web address is www.dirtycoast.com; their two stores are located at 5631 Magazine Street and at 329 Julia Street. It’s a great opportunity to get some cool stuff for yourself, and even to get a massive head start on your holiday and birthday gift shopping, while supporting CBNO!
