How’s Louisiana doing? July 2023 Data Roundup

Good, accessible data is key to driving change! We’re pleased to be a partner to National Center on Citizenship and the Southern Economic Advancement Project, who are working together on Pandemic to Prosperity: South, a comprehensive look at the economic, physical and social wellbeing of people in Southern states since the COVID-19 pandemic.

You can see the most up-to-date Louisiana-specific data in Pandemic to Prosperity’s grab-and-go Google Slide deck covering:

  • Rental costs and food insecurity

  • Overdose deaths

  • Disaster declarations

  • Anxiety, depression

  • Anti-LBGTQ laws

  • And more

You can read how all these indicators are connected in the Foreword of July 2023 Pandemic to Prosperity: South. In addition, the Pandemic to Prosperity: South team is available (& fully funded!) to offer virtual presentations. Contact Allison Plyer, allison (at) ncoc (dot) org to schedule a presentation.

Federal funds can be used to address these challenges

Southern cities and counties have used American Rescue Plan funds to address affordable housing, food insecurity, learning loss, and more. You can find inspiring success stories here and here, and county level data in their downloadable spreadsheet.

Need help sorting through all the new federal funding opportunities? Check out SEAP’s Federal Grant Finder Tool.

Focused on securing Infrastructure Act dollars for public transit, bicycle, and pedestrian projects that are racially equitable? This data guide can help.

Pandemic to Prosperity: South is a partnership of Fair Count, Southern Economic Advancement Project (SEAP), and the National Conference on Citizenship.
